Elizabeth Loftus, the leading advocate against the reality of repressed memories, describes the similarity between today's hunting of molesters based on de-repressed memories to the witch hunts of centuries ago.
This is the only time I've read an admission by her that sometimes the de-repressed memories could be real. My position is that for sure hypnotists and other therapists can create false memories (actually they are beliefs, not memories) but that doesn't mean all flashbacks and delayed recalled memories of childhood sexual abuse are fabricated.
