What is Hypnosis Certification?
There are many different schools, trainers, teachers and organizations that will provide you with training and hypnosis certification. Some will call it hypnosis certification and others will call it hypnotherapy certification. This is because some states restrict the term "hypnotherapy." The National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), the world's oldest and largest hypnosis organization uses the terms interchangeably and suggests that its members do so as well.
Hypnosis certification does not come from state or national agencies, but rather from schools, instructors or organization. This means your hypnosis certification is only as good as its source. So when you pick an instructor or school, or decide to affiliate with a hypnosis organization, do so wisely. I have always been, and continue to be impressed with the leadership of the NGH. It is the only hypnosis organization I belong to except for my membership in the 5-PATH® Hypnotists Association.
When you receive your hypnosis certification at the Banyan Hypnosis Center for Training & Services, Inc. you will receive excellent training plus certification in 5-PATH® Advanced Hypnosis, which has been approved by the NGH, which means that our training meets or exceeds its minimum standards for a hypnosis certification course. Our hypnosis certification course has been found by the NGH to contain its "core curriculum." With this in mind the NGH has given the "5-PATHers" the special distinction of becoming a recognized Special Interest Group of the National Guild of Hypnotists. 5-PATHers are the first and only practitioners of a specific system of hypnosis to receive this distinction.
We are very proud of this approval and recognition by the NGH. We have had a long-standing relationship with that organization and we include one year's membership in the tuition of our hypnosis certification course in order to encourage membership among the 5-PATH® Hypnotists around the world.
Choosing Your Hypnosis Certification Course
For your convenience we have listed factors that you should consider when selecting an instructor or hypnosis certification school. Among these factors is NGH Certification upon graduating from the course, a minimum of 100 hours training, and legal status in the state or country where the training is conducted. For example, while we were conducting our training programs in Minnesota, we were a "Minnesota State Licensed School", and now that we are in California we are now an "Exempt School." Trainers should always be aware of the laws pertaining to their ability to teach and obey those laws. Would you want to receive your hypnosis certification from someone who was conducting that training illegally? I suggest that you don't. If they will cheat the state, they may also cheat you. In fact that is reason that most states require some kind of registration, approval or licensure for school; it is to protect the public.
Our own hypnosis certification program has been so successful, that we now have other trainers other than Cal Banyan, who wrote and continues to teach and upgrade the original course. These instructors use the title, Certified Professional Hypnosis Instructor, or CPHI. These are experienced hypnotists who have themselves received their hypnosis certification through our hypnosis certification program, and then have gone on to demonstrate that they have the experience to teach, and knowledge to do so. This required that they undergo additional training and examination to become a CPHI.
