What time saving device or service have you used today? E-mail…speed dialing…speed dating…high speed internet…E-Z Pass™? We live in a time where people are busy. To make up for this lack of time we now have time saving devices and services to help us. I don’t know about you, but some of these conveniences have lead to unexpected outcomes. E-mail is a quick way to respond to a letter, no stamp, no wait. BUT, then there’s spam to wade through or 150 e-mails to read when you take a vacation. 150 may be conservative for some of you. I resisted having high speed internet service for a year. My concern? Instant gratification. By nature, I am impatient. You could say its being an Aries, born feet first into this world. I was concerned that I’d want satisfaction even faster, and my children as well. When you’re used to making a purchase at the click of a button with online shopping do you find yourself impatient when the person ahead of you at the store is taking “too much time”? What about that driver in front of you who’s doing the speed limit?
Speed dialing or letting your phone do the dial up has resulted, for me, in not remembering telephone numbers. This function can be useful but I realize it will not be helpful if I need to speak to a person and I’m using someone else’s phone. I love E-Z Pass™. When I drive to the beach or up to NYC I can be in the less populated lane, some that even allow you to maintain your speed. I smile as I zoom by. But I miss saying hello to the toll booth collector—those that are still employed. Speed dating is when you meet and greet a number of people in a short time, one on one, and then at the end of these “speed dates”, you choose whom you’d like to have a “regular” date. I haven’t been on speed date— if you don’t count those 10 or 15 minutes alone with my husband without the children.
So, you ask, what does all this have to do with hypnosis? As a certified 5-PATH® hypnotist I am trained in a process to get to the root, the cause of why a person does or thinks they way they do. It is this root that energizes a person’s bad habit (ie/ smoking, overeating, etc.) or keeps them from being successful in what they want to achieve in their lives.
5-PATH® takes, on average, 4-6 sessions for it to do its work effectively, to get to the layers needed to clear the root. Just imagine, if you weeded a garden and left a piece of a root in the ground from a weed? Yup, the weed would start growing again. Then you’d have to go back again and weed even longer!
There are times when speed is helpful. And there are times when we need to slow down and take the time to do what needs to be done so we can have the results we want, to live the life we truly want to live.
